Andrea's pointe class May 2012. Pose arabesque!
SBI is the brainchild of Claire, Pete, Nat, and Jemima; four adult dancers who met going to the same adult ballet classes. With one exception, our careers are not in dance. The non-pro three of us have day jobs and mostly only get to class on weekends or in the evening. Chatting after
class, the four of us agreed it would be ideal if there were more hours in the day for ballet and/or we could quit our jobs and dance all day. We think SBI is the next best thing - spending a week or so with great teachers just doing ballet.
Ballet has been a great positive for us. It's a wonderful way to exercise body and mind, as well as being a beautiful art form. It is almost like an aerobics class, a music lesson and a university lecture rolled into one! Adult sudents who found ballet before us have been exceptionally supportive and welcoming, and through SBI we plan to keep that tradition alive.
SBI brings together teachers who have enriched our experiences as adult ballet dancers with adult students for an intensive program. Feedback from our pilot SBI in September 2011 was universally positive, and we believe there is something - many things! - in SBI for you to enjoy too.
